Fixing syndication and spam

September 5, 2012 in announcements

Late last week we had a glitch with the backend system that lets the user registration process talk to our syndication bus. Consequently, the last 70 or so of you who registered are not syndicating.

The best solution is this: if you’re not syndicating, please delete your account and register again, as follows. After logging in, click your name in the right-hand navigation column. On your profile page, click the blue Settings tab. Just below the blue tabs, click Delete Account. Then complete the registration process again. After you fill out the registration form you’ll be taken to a page called Feed Finder that will confirm the URL of your blog feed. And then you’ll be syndicating!

Apologies for the inconvenience, but having you re-register is the only way to make sure that your edstartup account is properly connected to your blog and other accounts so that the posts on your blog show up in the activity stream, etc.

Finally, we’re seeing some spammers’ registering on the site (is that a measure of success?) so we’ve implemented captchas as part of the registration process. Sorry for the hassle. We’ll be deleting the spammers accounts and the spam they left behind shortly.
